Texas became a state December 29, 1845. But; Texas's exploration and early settlement started when the first Spanish conquistador came to the state: In 1519. When they arrived they found the region was populated by many Native American tribes, those Indian's ancestors were there for thousands of years before the Spanish. Hundreds of years later, there were now six leaders, Spain, France, Mexico, Republic of Texas, United States of America—as well as the Confederate States of America. (Early Exploration 1). The Indian's started killing the settlers. Later, settlers that still survived took over and started cotton farming and building the railroads. (This was in 1870.) By this time Anglo took over. And statehood was founded!
